FUOYE DON TASKS GOVT ON PETROCHEMICALS ALTERNATIVES

A Professor of industrial chemistry at the Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State Prof. Cecilia Akintayo has urged the federal government to put up modern based chemical plants that would assist in producing bio-based chemicals.

Akintayo said this would serve as perfect alternative to petrochemical products which have been a threat to human existence and environment. The university don made the disclosure in a maiden inaugural lecture delivered during the weekend at the large lecture theatre Hall, Faculty of Science, FUOYE entitled: ‘The place of plant oil derived products as sustainable replacement for petrochemical products in industries’.

She explained there is need for a paradigm shift from petrochemicals which constitute biological hazard to a sustainable alternative where environmental impact will be reduced...

Federal University Oye Ekiti played host to the National Universities Commission (NUC), and Parastatal Service Committee (PSC) 1st quarter meeting on Thursday, 27th March, 2019 at the Faculty of Social Science lecture theatre. To grace the occasion were a delegation of focal officers of SERVICOM from various universities across the geo-political zones of the Federation.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Soremekun represented by Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Professor, B.A. Alabadan, stated that FUOYE among its contemporaries has conformed to SERVICOM guidelines and principles by setting up modalities to guarantee customer satisfaction and equally ensuring that excellent services are delivered to clients and their grievances addressed without delay. He also added that the management seek to defend the values and integrity of the university by ensuring that services are delivered efficiently, effectively, promptly and in fairness; thus, the need for quality service delivery and customer’s satisfaction becomes a core collective responsibility...

FUOYE CELEBRATES FULL ACCREDITATION OF PROGRAMMES; STUDENT’S VICTORY AT NATIONAL TECHNOPRENEURS COMPETITION

The victory of a former student of its Mechatronics department in this year’s technopreneurs programme of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO) is a sign of the hard work and dedication of the staff the Federal University Oye Ekiti, a senior official of the school has said. The victory comes just as the Institution received a notice from the National Universities Commission (NUC) that all its academic programmes have been fully accredited. Ibiyemi Pedro Sanni, who holds a Mechatronics Engineering Degree from Federal University Oye-Ekiti,last week finished top at the FIIROHOUSE TV Reality Show, winning the 10Million Naira Prize and a chance to be guided and mentored by FIIRO until he becomes a top industrialists in Nigeria.

FIIRO is a Federal Organization under the ministry of science and technology found in 1956 to research and develop technologies for industrialization in Nigeria, Today FIIRO has over 250 researched and developed technologies ready for the industries with all machineries and equipment fabricated locally.
