The Linkage Programme, Environmental Research & Development Unit in its bid to fulfil its mandate of community linkage attended the 24th Annual Scientific/Delegate conference of the National Association of Livestock Husbandry Scientists and Technologists of Nigeria (NALHASTON) which held on 14th November, 2018 at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD).

Director of LIPERD unit, Professor A.A Aganga who was a lecturer at the event delivered a lecture on the topic: High Cost of Feed and Low Profit Margins for Livestock Farmers: Way Out of the Logjam.

Prof. A.A Aganga who spoke extensively on the topic stated that in a few years Nigeria’s population will explode and to survive this explosion, food production must explode. To combat this future occurrence, she urged the Government to look into this and make it a point of priority to plan well for the future and make sure our food reserves are not just empty because that is not the purpose they should serve. She also mentioned that workshops and trainings on food production should be organized to reduce cost and expenses of importation.
