MONARCH COMMENDS FUOYE VC’S ACHIEVEMENTS

Federal University Oye Ekiti recently hosted royalty when the traditional council of Ikole Kingdom led by its paramount ruler, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ajibade Adewunmi Fashiku, Aladesekole 1, paid a courtesy call on the vice chancellor, Prof. Kayode Soremekun in his office.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Oba Fasakin said the visit was to felicitate with the vice chancellor over the assumption of his new office at the newly completed ultra-modern administrative complex as well as commending him for the unprecedented development strides recorded during his administration. In his words, ‘’ we are impressed with the success story recorded in the institution during your administration’’

The traditional ruler also stated that they were pleased with the efforts of the university management under Professor Kayode Soremekun which has endeared the university for global attraction. He however, stated that his domain required more visibility of development in the university especially in areas of more establishment of faculties at Ikole campus adding that the traditional institution and the entire people of Ikole kingdom were ready to render all necessary support to the institution as evidenced in their donation of 350KVA generator to Ikole campus of the university.

Responding, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Soremekun expressed elation at their visit assuring that the doors of his administration were widely open to every group or individuals that have the growth of the institution at heart. He commended the visiting monarchs for their unrelenting support to the university.

Professor said that the request for more visibility at Ikole campus was a good and legitimate idea but, however, said that such issues were broad based policies which required governing council consideration which he assured he would convey to them.

He also revealed that apart from the fact that all the programmes in the faculty of agriculture have been authorized to undergo post graduate programmes, the remaining three departments in the faculty of Engineering (Computer Science, Mechanical and Material and Metallurgical Engineering) were receiving desired  attention for timely accredit
