Over the years, I have been involved in Hydrometallurgy, Environmental Pollution/Control and Nanoscience research. In hydrometallurgy, I focused on the extraction of valuable metals such as nickel, cobalt, tantalum, niobium etc from ores and solid waste using aqueous chemistry, while,in Environmental Pollution/Control and Nanoscience research, I focused on the development of nano oxides, adsorbents and composite materials including the synthesis, modification, characterization and application of these materials to the remediation of environmental pollutants. I am presently working on the use of nano oxides, combined nanocomposite and advanced oxidation treatment techniques for the removal of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs) and endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) (e.g polychlorinated biphenyl (PCBs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), phthalates, organometallic compounds, pesticides,  etc) from contaminated drinking water and wastewater. I am an active reviewer to more than 30 international peer-reviewed journals and have published over 45 journal articles in accredited peer-reviewed journals.
