FUOYE INSTITUTE OF PART TIME ANNOUNCES NEW ADMISSION OPPORTUNITIES

The institute of Part Time Studies (IPTS) of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has announced new admission opurtunitues for the teeming and dynamic young men and women in Nigeria. This is following a successful completion of the maiden examinations of the institute for the first semester of the 2020/2021 academic session.

It will be recalled that FUOYE announced the emergence of the institute last year following up with sales of application forms for 20 academic programmes which are B.SC Agric Economics and Extension, B.SC Food Science and Technology; B.SC Soil Science and Land Management; B.SC Sociology, B.SC Banking and Finance ; B.SC Political Science and B.SC Psychology.

Others are B.A English and Literary Studies, B.A History and lnternational Studies, B.A Religious Studies, B.A Theatre and Media Arts, B.SC Demography and Social Statistics as well as B.SC Peace and Conflict Resolutions.

And also, B.SC Public Administration; B.SC Water Resources Management and Agro Meteorology, B.A Linguistics and Languages, B.Sc Animal Production and Health, B.Sc lnternational Relations; BSc Economics and Development Studies, B.Sc and Sociology.

However, the institute successfully admitted over 2000 candidates into the first degree academic programmes of 17 Departments with the exception of Religious Studies, International Relations and Economics and Development Studies.

The institute’s first semester of the 2020/2021 kicked off in September, 2021 and ended successfully with the last examinations sat for by the students on January 22, 2022.

According to the Director of the institute, Dr. Omolade Adeleke, The institute’s maiden exams held between January 12 and January 22, 2022. It was conducted using both the Computer Based Test (CBT) and written modes of examinations.

Dr. Adeleke said while the CBT mode was conducted for the teeming students in their respective campuses in Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti, all written exams were held at the main campus of the University in Oye-Ekiti.

A press statement made available to the media office of the Vice-Chancelor by Dr. Adeleke further reads in part: “The population of our students in the institute is now a little bit above 2000 and these are spread accross 17 departments as approved by National Unuversities Commission (NUC).

“The institutes closes its first semester on Jan 22, 2022, while its second semester commences on February 14, 2022. We hope to include four other academic programmes which shall be Accounting , Business Administration, Criminology/Security Studies and Library and lnformation Science subject to the approval of NUC.

“Nothwistanding, the sales of forms for the next academic session of 2021/2022 shall start from the first week of March, 2022. Its first phase will last for the three months thereafter, a second phase will commence.

“We wish to use this medium to express our profound appreciation to our amiable, hardworking, selfless and highly innovative Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, for his immense support for the institute. Currently, we rank among the topmost IGR generating units of the University, if not arguably the most promising in terms of IGR generation. No wonder, within the short time of the emergence of the institute, it has acheived quite a lot,” he said.

Speaking further on the commencement of the admission process for the next 2021/2022 academic session, he said: “Forms for the new academic session which may be sold for N20,000, will, as usual, be sold for both Part Time (weekend) and Daily Part Time (Regular). So, students have the opportunity to apply for both Daily Part Time and the weekend part time programmes. The Daily Part runs for the normal years of the duration of the course of study just as the regular programmes of the University, while the weekend programmes have an extra year added to the normal or regular duration of the programmes.”
