STUDENTS AFFAIRS HOLDS A TWO DAY RETREAT FOR NEW EXECUTIVE
The Students Affairs Division of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti held a two day retreat tagged “Serenity in Unionism” for the newly sworn in Executive. The 2 day retreat which held from Thursday 6th to Friday 7th December, 2018 was declared open by the Vice-Chancellor who was ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abayomi Fasina. In his opening remarks he admonished the executives to handle issues calmly and work with the Management to have a peaceful session. The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Dosu Malomo responded by stating that the essence of the retreat was to rub minds and discuss certain issues to minimize crises on campus.
The executives were trained by lecturers’ from different units of the school and invited lecturers.
Dr Musbau Olawale the Medical Director, lectured on “the challenges of drug addiction” stressed on how becoming a union leader is a tasking responsibility and therefore they should see themselves as ambassadors of controlling drug use and addiction in FUOYE community, Comrade S. Awopeju spoke on “the negative effects of students’ demonstration on the smooth running of the University”, Mrs R. Ajayi who represented the Acting Bursar delivered a lecture on “procedures involved to access union fund”, the Chief Security Officer, Mr Paul Ogidi lectured on “security consciousness in the University environment, Dr A.A Fajimi, Head of Servicom lectured on servicom matters and the outgoing President. Comrade T. Fasakin gave them insights on “the role of Student Union Government in the development of Education in Contemporary Nigeria.
