About the Programme

The B.Agric. in Crop Science and Horticulture integrates foundational sciences with advanced applications in crop physiology, genetics, pest management, and horticultural systems. Students engage in hands-on fieldwork, greenhouse experiments, and digital tools for crop monitoring. The curriculum emphasises resilient varieties, organic practices, and post-harvest technologies to enhance productivity and sustainability. Graduates emerge prepared for roles in agribusiness, research institutions, and international development.

Programme Philosophy

The programme is grounded in the belief that crop science and horticulture are pivotal to achieving food sovereignty and ecological balance in a changing climate. It combines scientific rigour with entrepreneurial mindset, preparing graduates to apply advanced technologies such as GIS mapping, drone-assisted farming, and genomic breeding. We emphasise ethical practices, community impact, and global partnerships to foster professionals who contribute to national development and international agricultural agendas.

Mission of the Department

To produce innovative graduates and conduct transformative research in crop science and horticulture for sustainable food systems and environmental health.

Vision of the Department

To be a globally recognised leader in crop and horticultural sciences, driving agricultural innovation and resilience through excellence in education and research.
