The Student Affairs Department of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) is the central unit responsible for coordinating student welfare, development, engagement, and support services across the University. The Department plays a critical role in shaping the overall student experience by complementing academic instruction with structured programmes that promote wellbeing, leadership, and responsible citizenship.
As a public university committed to inclusive and student-centred education, FUOYE recognises that students’ academic success is closely linked to their social, emotional, and personal development. The Student Affairs Department therefore provides professional support systems that enable students to thrive within a safe, orderly, and supportive learning environment.
Scope
The scope of the Student Affairs Department covers all non-academic aspects of student life and engagement within the University.
Its scope includes:
▶Student welfare and wellbeing services
▶Student orientation and transition programmes
▶Student accommodation and residential life coordination
▶Student discipline and conduct management
▶Student leadership, governance, and representation
▶Campus life, clubs, and student organisations
▶Student engagement, inclusion, and support initiatives
The Department works collaboratively with faculties, Health Services, Counselling Services, Security Services, and student representative bodies to ensure coordinated service delivery.

Responsibilities, Services, and Duties
The Student Affairs Department performs the following core responsibilities:
▶Providing welfare support and guidance to students throughout their academic journey
▶Coordinating orientation and induction programmes for new students
▶Managing student accommodation and residential welfare in line with approved policies
▶Promoting student discipline, ethical conduct, and adherence to University regulations
▶Supporting student leadership development and student union activities
▶Facilitating extracurricular activities, clubs, and campus engagement programmes
▶Addressing student grievances and welfare-related concerns through established procedures
▶Promoting inclusiveness, equity, and harmonious campus relations
▶Collaborating with relevant units on safety, health, and counselling matters
▶Advising Management on student-related policies and welfare issues
Through these services, the Department ensures that student support systems are fair, transparent, and responsive.
