Welcome to FUOYE Gender Studies, a dynamic advocacy, academic and research platform dedicated to advancing scholarship, policy engagement, and social transformation through gender-informed perspectives. The unit promotes critical inquiry into issues of equality, inclusion, social justice, and sustainable development. Through interdisciplinary research and structured academic programmes, FUOYE Gender Studies equips students and researchers to analyse and address structural inequalities that shape social, economic, and political systems.
As part of the University’s commitment to inclusive excellence, the programme fosters intellectual engagement that contributes to equitable and evidence-based development.
About the Programme
FUOYE Gender Studies provides interdisciplinary education that integrates gender theory, development studies, policy analysis, and social research methodologies. The programme examines how gender intersects with governance, economics, culture, health, education, and environmental systems. Students explore frameworks that analyse power relations, representation, access to resources, and institutional practices.
Teaching combines lectures, policy case studies, research seminars, community engagement, and field-based learning. The curriculum aligns with global development frameworks and national policy priorities, preparing graduates to contribute meaningfully to public policy, advocacy, research, and institutional reform.
The programme emphasises analytical rigour, ethical responsibility, and evidence-based advocacy in promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
