Distinguished Academic and Professional Background

Professor Ogunwole holds a B.Sc in Agriculture., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Soil Science from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, where he began his illustrious academic career. Over the years, he has served in various capacities across institutions, including Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Adamawa State University (ADSU), Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Bowen University, Iwo and Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), contributing significantly to institutional growth, staff development, and student success.

Until his current appointment, he served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Partnerships, Research, Innovation and Linkages, SPRIL) at Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), where he leveraged his vast international experience to foster impactful collaborations, strengthen research productivity, and promote innovative solutions across disciplines. His tenure as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Bowen University (2018–2023) was marked by huge infrastructural developments, an exceptional academic outlook, high-level capacity building, and improved staff and student welfare, coupled with a zero tolerance for low-performance work ethics. Professor Ogunwole’s academic journey is distinguished by a series of prestigious international fellowships and scholarly engagements that have elevated his professional standing globally. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the Pennsylvania State University, USA (2009–2010), where he conducted advanced research on root growth & development of pasture grass under zero tillage practice. Earlier, he served as a TWAS Postdoctoral Fellow at the Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar, India (2006–2007). In 2010, he participated in the TWAS Associateship Programme at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Colombo, Sri Lanka, and was deployed to the East African Regional Office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as a Soil Scientist under the CGIAR Nile Challenge Programme.
